New York City
Charmagne Flair was upstairs in her room getting dressed. She knew her mother liked the hairband in her hair but Charmagne hated it. So she took it out. So here she was wearing her red shorts and white and red camp day shirt with a scarf in her hair.
"Charmagne!" Yelled her father Ric. She rolled her eyes. She went down one set of stairs, hit the landing and went down the second set of stairs, then past her sister’s room and down a third set of stairs until she met the hall off the livingroom and went down the hall. "Charmagne!" Ric yelled again. She went through the small hall to get to the diningroom.
"Here I am." Said Charmagne sitting across the table from her sister Jessica.
"Put the bando on the way I like it." Said the girls mother Trish. Charmagne rolled her eyes and put it on after she took the scarf out of her hair.
"What do I have today?" Asked Jessica.
"Gymnastics, Olivia’s mother is picking you up." Said Trish.
"I think I have back hand springs today." Said Jessica.
"What takes you so long upstairs every morning?" Asked Ric Flair.
"I was getting ready." Said Charmagne.
"No back hand springs is next week." Said Jessica. Charmagne just stared at her sister.
"What are you going to do when camp is over and you can wear whatever you want? We’ll never see you." Said Ric.
"I think it’s cartwheels today." Said Jessica.
"Ok, ok." Said Charmagne biting into her toast.
After Charmagne rounded the corner to the other side, the poor side as her family called it. She saw a group of people jumping from a wall to a mattress. One of them was a girl maybe a couple of years older then herself. She had long black hair, wearing a blue shirt and pink skirt.
"Shannon Moor come on!" Yelled Matt Hardy.
"No." Said Matt.
"Jump already." Said Matt’s younger brother Jeff.
"Chicken." Said Sean who seemed to be the girl’s brother.
"Alright." Said Shannon. As he was in a middle of a jump the Hardy brothers kicked the matt away and Shannon jumped onto concreted.
"That was good." Said Sean walking away.
"Ow." Said Shannon.
"Hey where you going?" Asked Mickey another girl.
"Away." Said Sean and Mickey followed. It was then Sherri the girl with the black hair saw Charmagne for the first time. She smiled at her. The bus pulled up and Charmagne got on. Sherri watched the bus leave.
Chapter 2
After day camp Charmagne, got off the bus, went to her house and walked up the steps. That’s when Sherri came up to her.
"Hey red raider." She noted Charmagne’s t shirt.
"Huh?" Asked Charmagne.
"This your place?" Asked Sherri.
"Ah." Said Charmagne.
"Which floor you live on? Your father the super?" Asked Sherri.
"I live on all of them."
"How many floors?"
"Four."
"You have all 4 floors to yourself? How many people?"
"Four."
"Weird." Said Sherri.
"Yeah." Said Charmagne shrugging. She rang the doorbell.
"So can I come over?" Asked Sherri. The maid Mae answered the door.
"She’s coming over for awhile."
"No skin off me." Said Mae.
Charmagne led Sherri up a flight of stairs, into the landing, through the door and she went up ahead while Sherri stared at the whole apartment. She was about to close the door.
"My job." Said Mae. She shut the door and went elsewhere.
"Come on." Said Charmagne. She led her up the stairs, more stairs and into her room.
"This your room?" Asked Sherri.
"Yeah."
"What do you got to do?" Asked Sherri.
"Games." Charmagne opened the closet. "Candy land that’s stupid, sorry, clue?" Sherri wasn’t listening she was looking in Charmagne’s jewel box and put on a pearl necklace.
"Hey give that back." Said Charmagne walking to the bed. Sherri got off the bed and went over to the mirror.
"Hey looks good." Said Sherri.
"Give it back." Said Charmagne. Sherri held the necklace away from Charmagne and Charmagne jumped for it. Sherri got tired and gave it back.
"See you tomorrow." Said Sherri.
"Yeah ok." Said Charmagne. Sherri walked ahead and Charmagne from the top of the second set of stairs with Jessica sitting on the balcony watched her about to leave.
"Who is that?" Asked Jessica. Mae went to open the door and Sherri left.
"A girl." Said Charmagne.
"Wow." Said Jessica.
Chapter 3
Charmagne was walking down the sidewalk to meet the school bus for day camp. Sherri came up to her.
"Hey red raider where are you going?" Asked Sherri.
"To camp." Said Charmagne.
"Skip it."
"What?"
"Skip it." The bus showed up and other teens got on.
"I can’t."
"Do what you want. It looks boring to me." Charmagne went over to the driver.
"I’m not feeling good, I’m going home, it’s ok my mom will call." The bus pulled away and Charmagne and Sherri found a quiet spot. Charmagne took out her cell and gave it to Sherri.
"What’s that?" Asked Sherri.
"Cell phone, you need to pretend you are my mother."
"Alright." Said Sherri.
"Ok remember you have to sound like a mother." Sherri nodded and took the phone.
"My daughter won’t be in today, her name, Charmagne, ah." Sherri motioned with her hand and Charmagne whispered.
"Flair- Stratus."
"Charmagne Flair-Stratus. She has the flu, don’t worry about it." Sherri hung up the phone.
"Well?" Asked Charmagne.
"I think they were planning your funeral. But everything is ok."
"Ok."
"One question though."
"What?"
"What the hell kind of name is Charmagne Flair-Stratus?"
"Flair comes from my father, Stratus comes from my mother, and Charmagne came from their favourite drink Champagne."
"You have one weird family."
"So what do we do now?"
"If you want to hang with me I gotta teach you stuff." Said Sherri.
"Like what?"
"Stuff, come on."
Sherri took Charmagne to the drugstore.
"Now do it this way and you can’t fail, now get good stuff." Said Sherri after lesson number one.
"Ok." Said Charmagne. Charmagne took some make-up and other odds and ends. Then she rounded the corner and saw Sherri.
"Hurry up I’m going." Charmagne got some more stuff and met Sherri then both girls started to walk fast. That’s when they ran into the big security guard Faarooq.
"Did you forget something?" He asked.
"What?" Asked Charmagne.
"To pay."
"Ah."
"Hand it over." Charmagne handed her purse and he took out the stuff. "Go steal your mothers." He said. Sherri and Charmagne ran out of there and all the way to Sherri’s building. Her dad was the super. They ran into the apartment, through the livingroom, through the french doors, down a hall to Sherri’s room. They sat on the bed.
"I’m surprised he didn’t kick us in the ass he sees everything." Said Charmagne.
"Not everything." Said Sherri taking stuff out of her jeans pocket.
"How did you not get caught by the alarm?"
"I have my ways." Said Sherri.
"Wow."
"I done better before." After that they heard from the next room:
"Sherri, sug come in here please." Sherri hid the make up in her box she had at the end of the bed. They went into the living room where Steve Austin Sherri’s and her brother’s Sean’s father was sitting watching tv and Debra their mother was standing waiting for her.
"What do you want? Ah this is Charmagne." Steve Austin briefly looked at Charmagne.
"Hey sug. Ah I need you to try on this dress." Said Debra holding the white communion dress after she addressed Charmagne.
"Hurry up." Said Sherri as Debra put the dress over her clothes so she can fit it. "Can Charmagne have supper over?"
"Sure sug."
"Ya wanna die from your mothers cookin’?" Asked Steve.
"Pop don’t scare her." Said Sherri. Sean came in from working and grabbed a beer out of the fridge. Austin went over to him and took it out of his hand.
"You wanna pretend your man and drink beer?" He asked.
"Pop don’t start." Said Sean.
"You’re 18 I don’t want you drinking till ya 21." Said Austin.
"Pop." Said Sean.
"Not my idea for you to drop out of highschool."
"I hated school."
"So did I, but I stuck it out you moron."
"Hey not in front of company sug." Said Debra and the two men knocked it off and Austin hugged his son. Charmagne smiled at Sherri.
At supper time Charmagne noticed a big change from her supper table. They talked like a normal family about normal things like school, work, boys, girls, the apartment building what needed to be fixed. Unlike her family who always talked about the next coming out party.
Charmagne went home and had to have a second dinner so her parents wouldn’t get suspicious.
"So what did you do at camp today?" Asked Ric.
"Ah trampoline and swimming." Said Charmagne.
"Sounds like fun did you hear about Cecily James coming out party?" Asked Trish. Charmagne rolled her eyes.
"Ya did you hear about Cecily’s coming out party?" Asked Jessica mocking their mother.
"That’s enough young lady else you don’t get any dessert." Said Trish.
"She shouldn’t anyways. It’s fattening." Said Ric.
"Well I stopped allowing Charmagne to have dessert I don’t see why I couldn’t stop Jessica now." Said Trish putting her plate into the kitchen. Jessica followed her.
"Mom that’s not fair."
That night Charmagne woke up in the night, went down both flights of stairs until she hit the second landing and knocked on Jessica’s room door.
"What?" Asked Jessica waking up and Charmagne came in with the flashlight on.
"I need you to do something for me."
"Does it have to do with that girl?"
"How did you know?"
"I saw silly."
"You won’t tell?"
"I hate camp. I won’t tell."
"Ok." Charmagne told her what she wanted her to do.
The next day Charmagne waited for the bus to go, took out the bando and went to Sherri’s building to collect her butt.
Inside Jessica was at the top of the balcony waiting for Mae to stop cleaning. The phone rang.
"I got it." Said Jessica. "Don’t worry I got it."
"If you got it well get it." Said Mae going to the kitchen.
"Hello? She’s still sick." Jessica hung up the phone.
Chapter 4
Sherri stood outside the livingroom apartment window.
"Ma, I forgot my keys!" A few seconds later Debra threw the keys down and Sherri unlocked the door. She went inside and put her best adult make up on.
Charmagne stood by the steps to her apartment, right below the balcony so the bus driver wouldn’t see her. After the bus left she took off the stupid bando and went to Sherri’s place. She was supposed to be gone on a camp out for three days.
Inside Jessica answered the phone.
"She’s still sick, maybe she’ll be back next week."
Charmagne knocked on Sherri’s apartment.
"Hey." Said Sherri.
"Three days." Said Charmagne.
"Alright!" Sherri put Charmagne’s bag inside and they went to have some fun.
Fun consisted of doing something that Steve Austin never allowed his kids to do. Sherri took Charmagne to an empty apartment building on the second floor. They went through the small hallway leading to the bathroom and the bedroom and one closet and looked around then they went back to the livingroom just off the kitchen and sat down on two chairs. They pretended to be parents.
"White wine Jeeves." Said Charmagne.
"I want a beer." Said Sherri.
"White wine with poultry dingy." Said Charmagne.
"I don’t want wine I want beer Jeeves." Said Sherri pretending to look up at an imaginary butler.
"Yum escargots." Said Charmagne.
"What?" Asked Sherri.
"Snails." Sherri pretended to chuck it at Charmagne and Charmagne ducked then laughed. Sherri tapped her leg to shut her up.
"Did you hear that?" Asked Sherri.
"No." They heard something in the hall. Sherri dragged Charmagne to the bedroom and they waited for the noise to subside. Then they came out and was about to leave the apartment.
"That was close." Said Sherri.
"Ya." Said Charmagne. Charmagne was already on the second set of stairs when Sherri just reached the second set after locking the door, and a hand grabbed her and turned her around. Austin looked at a young woman with long red hair.
"Christy go to the apartment 204 I’ll be there in a minute." Said Austin.
"Ok." Said Christy Hemme going up the stairs. Steve Austin looked at Charmagne then at Sherri. He then slapped Sherri across the face.
"I ever catch you in an apartment you’ll get the shit kicked out of ya and that goes for your friend to." Charmagne looked down.
"It was empty."
"I don’t care!" Austin went upstairs to take care of the young woman and Sherri went to her room in her apartment. Charmagne followed her.
"Sherri."
"Leave me alone."
"You want me to leave?" There was a knock on the french doors and Debra came in.
"I called father Stitch." Said Debra.
"Ok." Said Sherri grabbing her beads and Charmagne’s hand to take Charmagne to a place she never has been.
Chapter 5
Charmagne watched inside the church by the door while Sherri went to the front of the honour to do what she had to do, then she went into the confession box. A short while later she came out and the two girls went outside.
"What are you?" Asked Sherri.
"What do you mean?" Asked Charmagne.
"What religion are you?" Asked Sherri.
"I don’t think we are any religion." Said Charmagne.
"You’ll go to hell then." Said Sherri and Charmagne looked at her wide eyed.
The next day Charmagne and Sherri were leaning against a car outside Sherri’s building. Christy Hemme was carrying grocery bags and as she passed the two she looked at Sherri and said:
"Hey honey."
"Hey." Said Sherri. Christy went inside.
"Wow." Said Charmagne.
"She works at a beauty parlour, she’s been married four times."
"Really?" Asked Charmagne.
"Yeah tomorrow lets follow her to work."
"Ok." Said Charmagne.
Christy Hemme answered the door. It was Sherri’s brother Sean with his tool belt.
"Come to fix something?" She said sucking on a lolly pop.
"Yeah."
"Well sailor come on in." Sean followed her inside.
That night at supper Steve Austin looked at Sean.
"204's toilet needs to be fixed."
"I did it today." Said Sean.
"Guess what I did today pop?" Asked Sherri.
"What cause your mother trouble?" Asked Steve joking.
"Hey sug leave her alone."
"I’m joking with her Debra."
"Scored a home run in baseball." Said Sherri.
"You’re a girl you should be helping your mother with the girl things." Sherri sighed and took her plate to the kitchen. Debra came in.
"Hey sug don’t mind your father do what you want to do. Hey I like Charmagne."
"At least someone does."
That night Charmagne slept in Sherri’s bed while Sherri was awake on a mat on the floor. She sat up.
"Charmagne."
"What?"
"Come on."
"Where?"
"Just come on."
The two girls in white nightgowns climbed the roof top. They looked outside into the night.
"It’s beautiful." Said Charmagne.
"Sometimes I come up here to forget about my miserable life." Said Sherri.
"It’s not miserable mine is miserable."
"You have money."
"We don’t act like a family." Sherri started to twirl in circles on the roof and Charmagne followed her lead.
The next day they followed Christy Hemme to the Spanish area she went to work and Sherri said:
"Stay here I’ll be right back."
"Ok." Agreed Charmagne and Sherri took off.
"Hey baby you want to fuck me?"
"Who are you?" Asked Charmagne.
"Juventud but you can call me Juvi."
"Not thanks." He kept teasing her.
Meanwhile Sherri was at a farmers market and while the owner Chavo was busy with another customer Sherri stole a couple of apples. He looked.
"Hey you chica! Those fruit cost me money you know!" Sherri ran and almost hit Charmagne.
"We can have a threesome." Said Juvi.
"I don’t think so." Said Sherri grabbing Charmagne and running.
They went back to their side and looked on the bridge over the muddy water.
"Hey don’t worry about him." Said Sherri biting into her apple.
"I’m a virgin." Said Charmagne biting into hers.
"Well I’m not and don’t be in such a hurry to do it either." Said Sherri.
"I want to be adult."
"So do I but that’s not the way to do it." Said Sherri. Charmagne shrugged she wondered what Sherri meant by that.
Chapter 6
Charmagne got back from her three day camp out.
"How was camp?" Asked Ric.
"Good." Said Charmagne.
"Did you catch any fish?" Asked Jessica playing on.
"No we didn’t go fishing." Said Charmagne.
Charmagne was in Trish’s bathroom trying on Trish’s clothes and make up.
"How do I look?"
"You look nice sweety."
"Yeah?"
"You’re invited to Pilar’s party." Said Trish.
"Really?" Asked Charmagne.
"You can invite someone." Said Trish. Trish went to her room while Charmagne still pretended to be like mommy with the clothes in make up looked at the invite in her mother’s bedroom.
"Anyone?"
"Yeah." She knew who to invite.
Charmagne decided to bring Sherri into her world. A world of coming out parties, ladies and money. Sherri was nervous she wore her purple dress. Charmagne wore her white dress.
"Who is your friend?" Asked Pilar.
"Ah Pilar this is Sherri." Pilar said in her best nasal snotty voice.
"Charmed I’m sure." She walked away.
"What a snob." Said Sherri.
"Yeah I don’t like her much."
"Then why are you here?"
"It’s expected." A guy named Davey walked up to them and talked to Charmagne.
"You want to dance Charmagne?"
"No thank you."
"Are you sure my ice cubes are melting just for you honey." Said Davey.
"She said get lost creep." Said Sherri.
"Who are you?" Asked Davey laughing.
"Sherri get us a couple of drinks?" Asked Charmagne.
"Gladly." Said Sherri. While Charmagne held Davey at bay Sherri took the money from the coat check lady. Once Davey was gone Sherri came back and showed the money to Charmagne.
"Where did you get that?" Asked Charmagne.
"Pay box." Said Sherri.
"Put it back."
"No."
"It’s not yours." Said Charmagne. Sherri walked outside and Charmagne followed her.
"They’re a bunch of rich snobs they won’t even miss what ah 30 dollars." Said Sherri.
"That’s not the point it doesn’t belong to you, stealing artificial shit from a store is one thing but money?" Asked Charmagne. Sherri threw the money at Charmagne.
"Here you take it back." Sherri went back home.
Chapter 7
It was a Saturday.
"Come on." Said Sherri.
"What?" Asked Charmagne.
"Christy is at work." Said Sherri. They went to her apartment and let themselves in with the key. They went to her bedroom and saw Steve Austin’s tool belt on the floor. Then they heard someone about to come into the apartment. Charmagne went to hide.
"Sherri come on." Sherri was frozen and Charmagne hid in the closet.
"What are you doing here?" Asked Sean.
"Nothing." Said Sherri.
"Oh." Sean picked up the tool belt.
"It’s dad’s." Said Sherri.
"Yeah I was getting it for him."
"He had sex with Christy?" Asked Sean.
"Guess he got lucky." Said Sean. Charmagne came out of hiding and Sean looked at her. The three of them left. Sean locked the door while Sherri went into their apartment. Charmagne waited.
"It was you." Said Charmagne.
"It was me what?" Asked Sean.
"You had sex with Sherri." Said Charmagne.
"If you knew what was good for you, you’ll keep your mouth shut." Said Sean. Sean went outside the building and Charmagne went to Sherri’s room.
"Sherri."
"I don’t want to see you right now." Said Sherri. Charmagne went home.
That night at supper.
"I fixed the windows in 306 and the floor board in 510." Said Austin.
"That’s good sug."
"Then what did you do dad?" Asked Sherri.
"Came home watched Wrestling and drank beer." Said Austin. Sean gave Sherri a dirty look.
"Is that all you did?" Asked Sherri. Sean kicked his sister under the table.
"Ya that’s all I did." Said Austin shoving a piece of meat in his mouth.
"Glad you did sug." Said Debra.
The next day Charmagne had it in her head to visit Sherri and tell her it was Sean that had sex with Christy. She was going to ring the buzzer when Sean showed up on his bike. Charmagne walked over to him.
"Hey red." Said Sean.
"You have to tell her." Said Charmagne.
"No I don’t it’s better if she thinks pop did it."
"No it’s not right."
"Let’s go for a ride red."
"No I don’t want to." Sean put Charmagne on his handlebars on the bike. He ducked and dodged traffic and pedestrians.
"Having fun red?"
"No stop!" Sean drove fast around the block.
Meanwhile Sherri was having a smoke outside when Sean screeched to a halt and let Charmagne off. Sherri got rid of the smoke.
"What the hell are you doing?" Asked Sherri.
"Nothing just playing." Said Sean giving Charmagne a warning look.
"Tell her it was you having sex with Christy." Said Charmagne.
"Is it true?" Asked Sherri.
"Yeah." Said Sean seething at Charmagne.
"I thought it was dad."
"Your friend better keep her mouth shut if you she knows what’s good for her." Said Sean driving away.
"It’s your fault." Said Sherri.
"What?" Asked Charmagne.
"You had to know everything about her." Said Sherri.
"Look at you, you think you’re so hot smoking, you’re a reject Sherri." Charmagne walked back to home. Sherri went inside her apartment pissed at Charmagne cause she knew she spoke the truth.
Chapter 8
Sherri sat on her bed holding a doll and trying to ignore the world. She had it up to her chin with trying to act adult. She was missing out on the best times of her life just trying to be someone she wasn’t.
Meanwhile Charmagne went to the church in Sherri’s neighbourhood. Did what Sherri did, stole stuff and didn’t get caught and sat on the front stoop smoking. Ric Flair came home. He started to walk up the steps.
"Hi Charmagne how was your day?" She quickly got rid of it.
"Ah fine." He shut the door and came back out.
"Were you just smoking?"
"Ah no."
"Get inside."
As a result Charmagne was grounded for a week. She saw Jessica in the livingroom on one of her fantasy trips. She had no clue what Jessica was doing but she sat on one of the couch cushions she had built around her.
"What are you doing?" Asked Charmagne.
"I’m a doctor today." Said Jessica. Charmagne came inside the little fortress.
"You just jumped off the window."
"Oh really?" Asked Charmagne.
"You’re dead."
"I am?"
"Are you babysitting me?"
"Yeah."
"No you’re not." Said Jessica. The bell rang but Mae was off cause it was a Saturday. Charmagne went to answer it.
On the other end of the door was Sherri.
"Hi." Said Sherri.
"Hi." Said Charmagne.
"You wanna come over?" Asked Sherri.
"I’m grounded."
"For what?"
"Smoking."
"Don’t be like me."
"I’ll see you when I’m not grounded."
"I’ll be playing outside with the boys, baseball if you need me." Said Sherri.
"Ok."
Meanwhile Jessica left through the backdoor and went to Sherri’s neighbourhood, all the way past there and into the Spanish neighbourhood where Juvi harassed her.
"Hey chica you wanna play?"
"No thank you." Said Jessica. But Juvi wouldn’t let up. Steve Austin was driving back from seeing Christy Hemme at her job. She saw Jessica getting harassed.
"Get in." He said.
"Oh a stranger ok." Said Jessica getting in the front passenger seat. Austin drove away.
"Who are you and where do you live?"
"I’m Charmagne’s sister."
"Sherri’s friend?"
"Yeah what happened to her? I haven’t seen her around." Asked Jessica.
"I don’t know. What are you doing going off by yourself gal?" Asked Austin.
"I thought it would be fun then I was going to hitchhike."
"Are you nuts?"
"You’re my first ride."
"No I’m taking you back home." Said Austin.
"Nobody’s home Charmagne took off and mommy and daddy went to a party." Said Jessica.
"While we’ll go back to mine and see if Sherri can take care of you while your sister comes back."
"Ok." Austin pulled up to his building.
Charmagne found Sherri outside.
"Jessica is gone can you help me find her?"
"Yeah." They began to look. Neither of them thinking to look at Sherri’s place.
"Whose this sug?" Asked Debra.
"Sherri’s friend’s sister." Said Steve.
"Charmagne." Said Debra.
"Whatever where is Sherri this one almost got herself into trouble?"
"Don’t know sug but I’ll take her into the kitchen for milk and cookies."
"Oh boy!" Said Jessica.
"Did you find her?" Asked Charmagne.
"No did you?" Asked Sherri.
"I don’t know what to do." Said Charmagne.
"My dad, he knows the city and he can drive." Said Sherri.
Sherri and Charmagne came inside the apartment and stopped dead in their tracks with Jessica sitting on the couch talking to Steve.
"I hate being young it’s stupid."
"Why?" Asked Steve.
"Nobody listens to me."
"Same as your old kid." Said Austin.
"Jessica!" Yelled Charmagne.
"Take it easy sug she’s right here." Said Debra walking into the livingroom.
"You left me." Said Jessica.
"No I didn’t."
"Come on I’ll drive you two home." Said Austin.
"Thanks." Said Charmagne to Steve and to Sherri for helping her look for Jessica. Jessica hugged Debra.
"Thanks you for the milk and cookies."
"Anytime sug."
"Only person on earth that eats your cookies Debra." Said Steve.
He got them home safely.
"Ok you’re both grounded." Said Ric Flair.
"Not their fault, you should listen to your kids more often." Said Steve Austin walking away.
Chapter 9
After grounding Charmagne rang the bell to Sherri’s building and Sean let her in.
"Where is Sherri?" Asked Charmagne.
"Out you can wait upstairs." Said Sean. They came into the livingroom. Both of them the only ones there and Sean drinking beer.
"You been drinking."
"Yeah so?"
"Nothing."
"Lets play cards." Said Sean. They sat on the couch and soon after playing Sean tried to put the moves on Charmagne.
"Don’t." Said Charmagne. Sherri came in from outside. She just caught the end of what happened. She looked at Charmagne.
"We’re playing stickball, lets go."
"Ok." Said Charmagne getting outside the door first. Sherri looked at Sean.
"You stay away from her."
They played ball and after Sherri and Charmagne walked the sidewalks of New York.
"Last year I was raped."
"What?" Asked Charmagne.
"That’s why I told you not to be in a hurry to grow up."
"I hate being a kid."
"I know." They went to their own places.
That night Trish was getting ready for a dinner party. She was dressed in a green dress and Charmagne came in. She gave her mother a hug. She had a tear in her eye.
"Hey what’s wrong?" Asked Trish. Charmagne couldn’t answer. Trish tried to comfort Charmagne.
It was September, Sherri was going to Catholic School and Jessica and Charmagne to a girls private school. Charmagne was putting red nail polish on her nails when Jessica came in.
"You can’t wear that in private school."
"Who cares."
They passed Sherri’s building and Sherri complete with white shirt, grey long dress style nuns outfit came up to them.
"Hey red raider." They started walking and Jessica lagged behind.
"Hey." Said Charmagne.
"The summers as best as it’s ever going to be."
"Someday we will be adults."
"And hopefully someday we’ll lose our stupidity." Said Sherri.
"Yeah."
"I quit smoking."
"So did I."
"You never really started."
"True." Sherri’s chime bell started at her school across the street.
"I gotta go but raider?"
"Yeah?"
"See ya around sometime."
"Ok." Charmagne and Jessica watched Sherri and Sean go into the nun’s school. All the while Charmagne thought what a summer.
