Shelly was arrested, she ran away from home and nobody knew why but she. She spent the night in a jail cell. In the morning the cops took her to Juvi. The male attendant Mark Jindrak looked at the cop.
"You kept her in jail over night?"
"Give me a break it was late." Said Goldberg.
"We’re open 24 hours." Said Mark.
"Brought her now." Dawn Marie came out.
"Another one?" She asked.
"Yeah take her to a room." Said Mark.
"Ok." Said Dawn Marie. She led Shelly by the arm. She opened the door and put her in a room with other girls. A girl with long blonde hair looked at Dawn Marie.
"Dawn Marie I’m supposed to get out today."
"I’ll check on it Sharon, this is Shelly." Dawn Marie left and locked the door behind her. Shelly was uncomfortable.
"Shelly? Sit down." Said an African American girl wearing a blue shirt and jeans with holes in them. Shelly sat on the bed beside the girl. "What you do?" Asked the girl.
"Runaway." Said Shelly. Another girl was looking at the two of them.
"Screw off Robin." Said the African American. Robin was chunky a bit, with short red hair, wearing a green shirt and cords. Robin sat on the floor by someone and took the magazine the person was reading.
"I’m Angela, Judge JR will probably send you to the crib." Said Angela.
"What’s the crib?" Asked Shelly.
"It’s the state school for girls I’ve been there." Said Angela.
"That’s because Angela’s mother owns a great living." Said Sharon.
"Yeah." Said Angela snickering.
"Hasn’t she taught you the trade yet Angela?" Asked Sharon.
"She’s afraid I would be better at it then she is."
"Are you?" Asked Robin.
"Damn straight." Said Angela.
Shelly was sent to Judge JR. John Ross but the kids called him JR.
"Are the parents contacted?" Asked JR.
"Yes." Said the clerk.
"The brother?"
"Yes but it was felt this was the best thing to do at the time." Said the clerk.
"Shelly you are owned by the state right now, I’m sending you to the state school." Said JR. Shelly nodded.
She was sent back to Juvi where she found her bag brought.
"Who brought it?" Asked Shelly.
"You’re dad." Said Mark.
"Why didn’t you tell me?"
"He said he had to go."
"I wanted to go with him."
"You can’t."
"Come on then." Said Goldberg bringing Shelly to the state school.
"Good Luck." Said Mark. Shelly left with Goldberg to start her new life as a criminal.
Chapter 2
Goldberg drove up to the state school. Shelly hung onto the bars in back of the van. Goldberg opened the back of the van.
"Come on." She wouldn’t budge so he got in and pried her hands away. "Come on I don’t have all day, who’s next?" He was getting annoyed but finally got her inside and left her.
Shelly was in Counsellor’s Stephanie McMahon’s office.
"We have five steps here for you to get out. You get each step you get a privilege like going outside. We have a fence to mainly keep intruders out, the more progress you make the more things you get to do. It’s not that bad, we graduate people that can get along outside."
"Was my brother contacted?" Asked Shelly.
"Yes." Said Stephanie.
"I don’t believe it." Said Shelly.
"It’s alright here, I’m the contact to your parents, to the courts, I tell people how you’re doing. Do you want a coke?"
"No."
"Ok." Said Stephanie taking Shelly to the main entrance. On the way they passed teacher Torrie Wilson who looked at Shelly and thought damn another one.
"Ah Lita this is Shelly."
"They told me we had a new one."
"This is Lita, Shelly you’ll go with her." Said Stephanie.
"Come on." Said Lita. Lita brought Shelly with her while Torrie looked on.
Lita brought Chris through a door and to the showers.
"Why are your hands so tight. You hiding anything?" Asked Lita.
"No." Said Shelly. Lita finished looking who over then handed her the shampoo.
"I’ll be right outside." Lita turned on the water before she left the shower area. Shelly cried.
After the shower Lita walked Shelly to the main house. They went into the rec room.
"Hey Shelly Lita put her with me ok?" Asked Angela.
"Victoria this is Shelly. Shelly Victoria is in charge when I’m not here." Said Lita.
"You want me to take her?" Asked Victoria.
"No I’ll do it." Said Lita. Lita opened another door.
"Where you putting her?" Asked Angela.
"With Loretta."
"Loretta?" Asked Angela following Lita and Shelly down the bedroom hall.
"No drugs, no fighting and no sex." Said Lita.
"Can’t have any fun at all they think you’re gay." Said Angela sarcastically.
"Go finish doing what you were doing." Said Shelly. Angela stayed in the main room. Another girl with long black hair and green eyes, wearing a striped shirt and jeans asked:
"Is she in for prostitution?"
"Star go do something." Said Lita.
"Well you go." Said Star about ready to complete the phrase but she was interrupted. They passed a room where a girl with long blond hair wearing a dirty white shirt and overalls looked at Star. Star looked at her back.
Lita finally reached Shelly’s destination.
"Loretta this is Shelly." Shelly came in and Lita shut the door. Loretta was native, she was wearing a white flowered shirt and jeans. She was on the bottom bunk.
"You smell bad." Said Loretta.
"It’s the stuff they made me wash my hair with." Said Shelly. She put down the bag and looked at the small room. By the bunks was a window with bars. Across the bunks a desk, a desk chair and a small closet by the door. Writing on the wall such as suicide is king, the throne is my friend, sex drugs and rock and roll rock. She started to unpack her suitcase.
Shelly was going to go to the rec room when she got cornered by the girl in overalls.
"Hi." Said Shelly. The girl cornered her in her room. Another girl with short blonde hair looked at them both.
"Hit her, hit her." The overall girl backed Shelly to the wall.
"You’re pretty." She said. Angela came in.
"Lay off Russel she just got here." Said Angela.
"Hit her, hit her."
"Heather shut up dummy." Said Angela.
"You wanna stay here? You have a boyfriend?" Asked Russel.
"No." Said Shelly.
"Girlfriend?" Asked Russel.
"No." Said Shelly.
"Stay with me." Requested Russel.
"Come on Shelly lets go watch tv." Said Angela as she took the grateful Shelly out of Russel’s and Heather’s room.
A girl with red hair, green eyes and freckles wearing a blue tank and blue jeans decided to play chicken with Angela using smokes. They put them on their arms to see who gave in first. Annie did her own. Angela had Shelly do her arm.
"When the staff gives you the pills to calm you down put them under your tongue and later give them to Russel and for god’s sake stay away from that dyke." Said Angela. Another girl came along.
"You can always tell a new girl by the lye soap."
"This is Jaden she’s our number one thief." Said Angela.
"And number one bitch according to my phone call." An African American with a red shirt and blue jeans looked at Jaden.
"Brock getting up your ass again?"
"When isn’t he Ellie?" Asked Jaden.
"Dump his sorry ass." Said Ellie.
"You can always go for Russel." Said Angela.
"Nuts to that." Said Jaden.
"She don’t care anyways, about anything, I saw her crack someone over the head with it she didn’t even care about isolation." Said Annie.
"She never does. Yeah I win." Said Angela taking a drag after she took the smoke from Shelly.
"Let’s go again." Said Annie.
"Nah." Said Angela.
"Come on." Said Annie.
"Ok turkey lets do it again." This time Angela held onto the smoke. Just as they started Lita came in.
"Hey I told you no playing chicken. Jaden, room lock, Ellie room lock, Mae room lock." Angela got up when Lita took her arm. "Annie and Angela room lock." Said Lita. Angela kicked Shelly.
"I told you to watch out for her." Shelly cringed.
"Ok isolation." Said Lita.
"Fuck you!" Yelled Angela.
"Victoria!" Victoria held Angela still while Lita got the pills. Shelly began to wonder why she ran away from home in the first place.
Chapter 3
The girls from cottage three were walking to the school room.
"You have 12 girls from cottage three." Said Lita on her cell to Torrie Wilson. The girls got to the door.
"Hey mom." Said Star.
"Hi mom." Said Ellie.
"Hi." Mom as the girls called her touched Loretta’s stomach.
"Hi." Said Loretta.
"Oh look at you." Said Mom.
"Hi." Said Shelly.
"You must be Shelly." Said Mom.
"Shelly the virgin." Said Russel
"Yeah." Said Heather.
"If she is she’s the only one in this room." Said Jaden.
"How is Brock?" Asked Mom coming into the school room after Jaden.
"A pain the ass he can’t decide if he wants to be a football player or a wrestler." Said Jaden.
Everyone sat down while Mom circled the room. Russel sat by her usual place the piano.
"Hey mom let’s not do work today." Said Star.
"Maybe after the map of the world." Said Torrie. "Where is Annie?"
"Room lock mom come on we want to play games." Said Star.
"Maybe later, Angela?"
"Solitary." Said Jaden.
"Yeah she really screwed up this time." Said Star.
"Mae?" Asked Mom.
"Beauty shop." Said Heather.
"You need it." Said Russel.
"This is my teacher disguise you should see me when I hit the street I’m a diva." Said Torrie.
"You’re no Miss America." Said Russel. Torrie went to the map.
"What is this country?" Everyone looked at the map. "We went over this already." Said Torrie.
"Who knows." Said Jaden.
"Loretta?"
"Ah Loretta hasn’t been off the reservation much." Said Russel and Loretta gave her a dirty look.
"Shelly?"
"Spain."
"If you were trying to cross this body of water and you landed too far south where would you be?"
"Australia." Said Ellie.
"She always says that." Said Jaden.
"Stupid shit." Said Star. Mom went over to Star.
"Don’t do that?"
"What?"
"Don’t laugh at her for trying to learn something."
"Who cares, who cares about Shelly to."
"What do you care about Star?"
"Getting high."
"Why only dope?"
"It makes me feel good." Mom grabbed Star’s arm. She was wearing a black shirt with a rainbow and jeans.
"There are other ways of feeling good. All you guys care about is getting out, getting high, get with some guy, I’m tired of it." Said Torrie. Ellie stood up.
"What’s the matter mom?"
"Nothing." Said Torrie.
As the girls were walking back to cottage three Torrie and Shelly talked.
"You have a brother?"
"Yes."
"Older then you?" Asked Torrie.
"Yeah."
"Is he married?" Asked Mom.
"Yeah."
"Saw from your school records you did very well but you were absent quite a lot."
"Yeah."
"Trouble at home?"
"Yeah." Torrie didn’t want to push Shelly instead she asked.
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"Stewardess."
"Travel?"
"Yeah, I want to go to Colorado."
"Fly Shelly to Denver." Shelly smiled. Torrie’s cell rang and she picked it up.
"Yeah?"
"Where is Shelly?"
"She’s coming." Shelly walked ahead. Torrie knew that Shelly was in there for the wrong reason.
Chapter 4
They were playing in the yard, staff watching them of course. Shelly walked past the fence and found the swing. She sat on it and started swinging. Meanwhile from a nearby tree Russel, Star and Heather were watching her swing.
After that all the girls were lining up to go inside. Star dressed in jeans, a blue long shirt and a do rag on her head, while Russel in a white sweater and jeans with holes in the knees came up to Shelly.
"How do you like the crib so far?" Asked Star pushing Shelly’s hair back.
"Ok." Said Shelly protectively.
"You’ll like it when you see Johnny." Said Star.
"Yeah he likes new girls." Said Russel.
"Who’s Johnny?" Asked Shelly.
"Ok girls inside." Said Lita and they followed her in.
*Caution uncomfortable scene straight ahead, if you don’t like don’t read, Shelly sorry.
Most of cottage three was in the rec room. Lita was showing Annie how to yarn. Shelly came in wearing a blue house coat and carrying a towel.
"Where is Victoria?"
"She’s off tonight what do you want?" Asked Lita.
"Shampoo." Said Shelly.
"I wish you girls would shower together." Said Lita as she got up.
"Hey." Said Annie.
"I’ll be right back." Said Lita.
"I need you."
"Don’t bust yourself your creation is beautiful."
"Not funny." Said Annie. Shelly followed Lita to her office while Lita got the shampoo.
"Bring it back when you’re done." Said Lita.
"Hurry up!" Yelled Annie.
"I’m coming." Said Lita.
Shelly went to the showers, put the water on, went to the hooks, took off her robe and hung up her towel. She then went into the shower and let the water run over her. Until it shut off. She looked and saw Russel and Star outside the showers, Star was holding a plunger.
"Come out here a second." Said Star. Shelly came out. Before she knew it Heather and another girl grabbed her, the other girl put her hand on Shelly’s mouth and she and Heather held her arms down. Star and Russel held her legs. Star put the end of the plunger up Shelly’s twat.
"Ahhhhh." Came Shelly’s stifled scream. After a minute Russel got up.
"That’s enough." Star wouldn’t let up. Russel kicked her. "I said that’s enough." All four let her go.
"You won’t rat on us will you?" Asked Star. They left and Shelly was in tears.
The next day they walked to school, Shelly by herself. As they ate lunch in the lunch room Russel nudged Star and pointed at Shelly just playing with her food and Star shrugged. They walked back and that night Shelly laid in her room while Loretta slept on the bottom bunk. Shelly couldn’t sleep.
The next day Torrie was trying to get the girls to focus on a goal.
"Someone told you, you’re no damn good and you believe it." Said Torrie.
"Come on Mom." Said Russel not buying into it.
"I’m serious, you don’t have to believe it. Most of you are in here for stuff that wouldn’t be considered crimes if you were adults." Said Torrie.
"If we didn’t do anything then let us out." Said Jaden.
"I can’t do that. Ok give me a goal. Shelly wants to be a stewardess what about the rest of you?"
"I want to be a lion tamer." Said Star.
"I want to get on my horse and drive all the way to Australia." Said Ellie.
"I want to be a doctor." Said Jaden.
"See these are goals, what about you Russel?"
"Nothing." All of a sudden Shelly got up from her table and left the room.
"Where are you going?" Asked Torrie as she followed Shelly. The rest followed to.
"Run Shelly!" Yelled Angela. Shelly walked faster.
"Shelly come back here!" Yelled Torrie. She tried to hold Angela back. "Stay here. Shelly!" Shelly kept walking fast and Torrie kept following and trying to keep the others back.
"Run Shelly!" Yelled Angela and Torrie held her back. Shelly ran, she ran to the gate. Torrie had to phone the security. They drove and grabbed Shelly who was almost over the fence.
"Let me go ahhhhhhhhhhhh!" Yelled Shelly. They wouldn’t let up they knew they had to take her back. Shelly was not happy. Torrie wasn’t happy either she thought Shelly was one of the few that would make it.
Chapter 5
Stephanie was walking Shelly to isolation.
"Isolation isn't a punishment you're here to think about what you did. You were at step two now step zero." Stephnaie left Shelly with the intended in charge and after hearing that if Shelly pees on the floor she has to clean it up and if refuses to sleep on the hard mat then she'll sleep on the cold cement floor. Shelly let out a sigh and stayed in isolation alone.
Torrie Wilson aka Mom came by to talk to Shelly through the barred doorway.
"Shelly what happend."
"hmmmm um hmm dee dum." Hummed Shelly. Torrie knew she wasn't going to get an anwer. She left Shelly alone for the meanwhile. After she left Shelly took a pin out of her hair and cut her initials into her arm. Proud that she did that she left the self mutilation alone for the time being.
Mom had permission to bring Shelly outside into the yard to talk.
"Will you talk? Let me in please." Begged Torrie as she followed Shelly around in a circle.
"Why?" Asked Shelly. It was apparent that Torrie wasn't going to get anywhere again. So she brought Torrie back in and left again.
The next day Torrie took off her heels and sat in front of the isolation door, she thought she would try another technique.
"I look at girls on the street and say that could be Star or Russel but it probably would never be. I look at girls on the street on the way to work or college and I see you. You didn't have the damage done to you like these girls have. Star was beaten before she could walk. Angela's mom got her into prostituion. Annie's dad got her into drugs before she was 10 years old. Russel has been told she has been bad for so long she doesn't know anything else. I look at Shelly and think that you'll be someone."
"No I won't."
"What happened?" Shelly sat on the other side of the door by the little barred window.
"I can't tell you." Said Shelly.
"Please Shelly."
"I'm not Shelly today."
"Who are you?"
"Baby."
"Baby what happened to you?"
"Mom."
"What?"
"The girls they grabbed me and they stuck a toilet plunger up me they hurt me mom." Torrie was crying along with Shelly.
Stephanie, Shelly, Torrie and Lita were having a meeting to send Shelly home for 4 days to see if it will work out.
"If it happened to me I would have run." Said Torrie.
"I thought we settled that Johnny business?" Asked Lita.
"It still happned." Said Torrie.
"I don't let my girls get hurt." Said Lita.
"With a cottage full of girls to look after Lita it's hard." Said Stephanie.
"I just don't believe it." Said Lita.
"It happened why do you think she ran?" Asked Torrie.
"Why do you think she ran? Cause they all want to run." Said Lita.
"If it works then she can stay home permantely." Said Torrie.
"What do you say Shelly?" Asked Stephanie.
"I think I can see what went wrong. I like to try." Said Shelly.
"I'll let you know." Said Stephanie.
Chapter 6
Vince picked up Shelly.
"You didn't tell me how you liked the new sound of the car."
"Sounds good, you fixed it?"
"Yeah." They got to the house. Linda came out.
"Shelly!" She hugged her daughter.
"Mom."
"Come on In I got lunch then you'll have to tell me all about you before you go back."
"But I can stay now mom." Said Shelly.
"Let's not worry about that now." Said Linda.
They had lunch of soup and sandwiches.
"Have you heard from John?" Asked Shelly.
"Cena, ya he takes his wife's name." Said Vince rolling his eyes.
"We got a letter." Linda got the letter from the kitchen counter and gave it to Shelly who in turned read it.
"Listen girl you pull what he did you can never come back." Said Vince.
"Leave her alone." Said Linda.
"Shut up!" Shelly went to her room leaving them to argue.
Once in her room she was sitting on one of the double beds. She got up and looked out the window, she opened it and felt the breeze, something she didn't know in isolation.
The next day Shelly came outside to her dad fixing the car.
"Where you off to?" He asked.
"Mom and me going shopping." Said Shelly drinking a coke.
"Oh yeah."
"She's not ready yet." Said Shelly. Linda came out.
"I can't find my keys." She went inside.
"If it isn't you it's her." Said Vince.
"Don't I'll help her please." Shelly watched her dad go inside and once there Vince beat his wife. Shelly didn't know what to do.
Instead of shopping Linda and Shelly were in the livingroom watching tv.
"There is a real nice girl named Angela." Said Shelly.
"Let's not talk about that place anymore." Said Linda. Shelly held a smoke in her hand while she drank her doctor pepper.
"Why?"
"Hasn't it been better for you in there?" Asked Linda.
"It's not better for me." Said Shelly.
"He's been different."
"You mean since I been gone?"
"Yeah."
"Then why did you call the cops?" Linda sighed. Shelly took a drag off her smoke then got up. "I'm going to Cindy's." Shelly left. Linda went back to not speaking.
Shelly got back and heard her parents fighting.
"You let her out of this house? Are you stupid?" Asked Vince.
"Don't yell at me I'm doing the best I can." Said Linda. Whack. Shelly slammed the door and her parents came out.
"You hear everything?" Asked Vince.
"Yes." Said Shelly.
"Leave I want to talk to my daughter alone." Said Vince and Linda left the kitchen. Shelly poured herself some coffee.
"You're wearing tight jeans."
"Yeah."
"You're a slut."
"I'm not."
"What were you doing at Shellys?"
"Listening to music and talking."
"Who else was there?"
"Her brother."
"Were you having sex with them?"
"No dad." Vince came over to Shelly and slapped her hard. Shelly ran again.
John Cena waited for Shelly to get off the bus.
"Hey." Said John as he hugged Shelly and then he gave her a toy bear.
"For me?"
"Yeah you want something to eat?"
"No."
"Drink?"
"Yeah." John bought Shelly a coke then they sat down.
"I'm going home with you."
"Remember I told you the cops called?"
"Yeah."
"You can't stay with us, we have a baby."
"Yes I can I can babysit."
"I told you that you can't, just out of reform school." Two cops came up to the table.
"Thanks John." Shelly had no choice she had to go back to reform school with the cops. She had no choice but now things would be different.
Chapter 7
Lita wasn’t surprised that Shelly would be sent back to reform school. She was ready to go back in the shower with the lye soap again.
"You got sent back huh?"
"Yeah." Said Shelly.
"Thought so they all come back sooner or later." Said Lita scoffing. She left the room to let Shelly have her shower.
Jaden had a visitor, it was her boyfriend Brock Lesnar.
"Baby come on you don’t expect to be here and me not find someone else to fuck with." Said Brock.
"Sable? She’s a slut." Said Jaden.
"She can get me places." Said Brock.
"Ya she can get you a disease." Said Jaden.
"Hey where are the adults I only saw a few teenagers?" Asked Brock. Jaden had to laugh she looked adult enough where it fooled Brock. But at the particular time Ellie chose to walk by.
"Jaden you didn’t tell him you were a teen?" Asked Ellie sarcastically.
"What?" Asked Brock.
"She’s lying." Said Jaden. Brock tried to leave but Jaden walked to his front and jumped into his arms.
"Get lost." Said Brock.
"Oh poor baby." Said Ellie.
"Brock baby don’t leave I love you." Said Jaden. Brock scoffed and put Jaden on the floor.
"I’m not interested in kids." He walked out.
"Well wonder if he’s going to be a wrestler or a football player now?" Asked Ellie. Jaden looked at her.
"Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu." Jaden wrapped her hands around Ellie’s throat. When they heard footsteps they let go. It was Victoria.
"You girls playing nice?"
"Yup." Said Jaden and Ellie together.
"That’s good." Said Victoria walking out of the room. Jaden went back to what she was doing before.
"I’ll kill you."
"You can’t kill me you’ll go to jail." Said Ellie. Jaden let go.
"You’re right, you’re not worth it."
"What made you choose a man?"
"He’s rich." Jaden shrugged and left the room.
Shelly and Lita went to the diningroom. Lita sat at one table drinking coffee while Shelly went to the counter by the kitchen to get some food. Loretta was dressed in a white dress, with a hair net and apron. She watched Shelly. Shelly went to sit down. Loretta joined her.
"I don’t know if I should keep the baby." Said Loretta. Shelly toyed with her food.
"I think you should keep it but you gotta love it, you gotta sing to it, and play with it, and take it for walks in the carriage."
"Shelly." Lita warned her to shut up.
"I might." Said Shelly.
"Come on Shelly." Lita said.
"I’ll see you in our room." Said Loretta.
"No I gotta go to isolation I’m a runaway." Said Shelly. She left with Lita.
Chapter 8
Mom talked outside the isolation door to Shelly.
"I’m sorry Shelly it didn’t work out."
"Hmmm um him ah um be dah dum." Shelly hummed to herself.
"We’ll try a foster home next." Said Torrie. She kept hearing Shelly hum so she left.
The next day Torrie went to see her again, this time she opened the door. Shelly was standing by the window.
"I know you ran for a reason." Said Mom.
"You do?" Asked Shelly not really caring anymore.
"Yeah I do but the law keeps putting you here."
"Your laws are written down not mine." Said Shelly.
"Depends sometimes laws need to be broken." Said Torrie.
"So." Said Shelly shrugging.
"You’re letting go of Shelly and I want to hold on to her."
"What for?"
"You’re needed."
"By whom?"
"Hold on." Torrie went into the hall and sent someone in. It was Loretta.
"I want you to get out."
"Why?" Asked Shelly.
"I’m keeping the baby. And I want you with me." Said Loretta.
"Why?"
"Because you say nice things about the baby like the carriage, just please get out." Loretta got Shelly to smile again and Shelly got out sooner then later.
The girls decided to have a baby shower for Loretta. Jaden made Loretta a blue and a pink baby blanket.
"Awwwwwwwww." The girls said. Loretta looked at Jaden.
"Thank you, it’s beautiful." Said Loretta.
"I made it blue and pink so the baby could be whatever you like." Said Jaden.
"This baby is going to be lucky all of us for big sisters." Said Angela.
"And Russel for the big brother." Said Shelly and Russel gave her a dirty look.
"Russel play the piano." Said Mom.
"No I’m busy." Said Russel flipping through a car magazine.
"You gotta do something you’re the man of the house." Said Shelly.
"Screw you." Said Russel.
"Here." Said Star handing Loretta another present.
It was parent day. Loretta and Shelly were talking in the rec room on the couch.
"Glad I’m going home." Said Loretta.
"Yeah." Said Shelly. Lita came in.
"You’re parents are here." Said Lita.
"Whose?" Asked Shelly.
"Loretta’s." Said Lita. Lita left the room after Loretta. Shelly walked around the room and turned on the tv then sat back down on the couch. Star came in.
"Cigarette?"
"Yeah." Said Shelly and Star handed one to her.
"Lita!"
"What?"
"I need a light." Lita came in and lit Star’s cigarette.
"Me to." Lita lit Shelly’s next. Then she sat down on the chair.
"I hate visiting days." Angela came in and sat down beside Shelly.
"You don’t know how lucky you are, you’re parents don’t come." Said Angela.
"Angela." Said Lita. Angela ignored Lita and looked at Shelly.
"She tells me I miss you Angela, when are you coming home? I know where that’s at." Said Angela.
"Angela." Lita tried to be nice.
"Beat it will ya?" Angela left the room she was pissed at Lita. Lita went to the card table.
"You wanna play rummy Star?"
"I’m expecting someone." Said Star.
"She’s too far away."
"That’s the other mom."
"We talked about this." Lita went over to Star.
"Why don’t you say they’re coming?" Asked Shelly.
"Cause they aren’t." Said Lita.
"You don’t want anyone to come cause nobody comes to see you." Said Star. Lita slapped Star. Star left the room.
"You should have said it." Said Shelly.
"Stay out of it you don’t know anything about it." Shelly sat and looked at the tv, all the while thinking that Lita had no clue about the girls.
Chapter 9
It was supper time. Annie was working the kitchen. Loretta was right behind Shelly.
"Can’t Loretta have anymore milk?" Asked Shelly.
"That’s all there is." Said Annie.
"What is this crap?" Asked Jaden.
"Shut up I didn’t make it." Said Annie. The three girls sat down.
"That’s what she said." Said Angela.
"Oh shut up Angela." Said Jaden.
"How is Brock?" Ellie asked snickering.
"Funny." Said Jaden. Shelly gave Loretta her milk.
"Why does she get more?" Asked Russel.
"You know why." Said Shelly.
"Big deal, even a dog could get pregnant." Said Russel. Shelly threw food at Russel and Russel through her tray at Shelly. Pretty soon the whole reform school was throwing food around.
Lita and Torrie were outside talking and walking.
"You had to throw Shelly and Loretta into isolation?" Asked Torrie.
"I’m only doing it cause of what I saw." Said Lita.
"Why?"
"To help me run the cottage."
"I didn’t want to mention it before but was that why that Star was slapped to help you run the cottage."
"Hey I have these girls more hours in a day then you, you don’t see the burning, you don’t see the abuse I have to put up with it."
"Lita that’s a stupid cop out."
"What do you know? You wanna go back to where these girls used to be hit?"
"This bullshit isn’t good enough anymore." Said Torrie walking away from Lita.
"Loretta."
"What?" Asked Loretta from her isolation room to Shelly.
"I want to trade rooms with you."
"Why?"
"I read all the writings on the walls here."
"I’m sorry Shelly we’ll lose our steps now."
"It’s ok."
"I wanted to be home when the baby comes."
"They’ll let you go home." After a couple of minutes Loretta began to scream.
"Ahhh, Shelly."
"What?"
"Something is wrong." While Loretta screamed Shelly banged for help. Victoria came running.
"What?" Asked Victoria as she opened Shelly’s door.
"It’s Loretta." Said Shelly and Victoria opened Loretta’s door. Victoria went to get help while Shelly stayed with the bleeding Loretta.
"Something’s wrong." Said Loretta.
"It’s ok, it’s ok." Said Shelly trying to be optimistic.
Chapter 10
In the morning the phone rang. Everyone was still asleep. Lita opened the office and Star, Jaden, Shelly and Annie followed her inside.
"Cottage three? Yeah. Ok." She hung up the phone.
"Well?" Asked Jaden.
"Loretta had a miscarriage she’s not coming back." Said Lita. The girls left, they went back to their rooms to get dressed and Shelly stayed in the hall. She then decided to go to Russel’s room. Russel was on her bed sitting with one leg up and Heather was on the bed next to Russel.
"Congratulations, the baby is dead." Shelly looked at Russel and then left the room. Russel had tears in her eyes.
They were on the school bus driving out to the reservation to go to the funeral. After the service the girls put the baby presents that they gave at the shower onto the baby casket. Then Stephanie decided to say a few words.
"On behalf of the school we wanted to apologize. To understand what truly happened is to understand Loretta’s people, a proud people, she bore her pain in silence."
"She screamed." Said Shelly.
"Not until it was too late." Said Stephanie.
"She screamed!" Yelled Shelly. Loretta was in tears.
That night Shelly was in her room.
The rest of the girls were in the rec room with Lita. Lita was playing cards with Star.
"You cheated." Said Star.
"I didn’t, another one?"
"I wouldn’t put it past you and yeah." Lita dealt.
"Lita will win again." Said Jaden. The tv was on and Annie turned the channel.
"Hey I was watching that." Said Ellie.
"Shut up go back to your sewing." Said Annie.
"Annie switch it back." Said Lita and Annie did. Angela was pacing the floor and Russel was playing the piano.
Shelly was pacing her room thinking about Loretta.
Angela walked over to Russel.
"Russel knock it off."
"Angela just leave me alone."
"Russel, Angela sit down." Said Lita. Russel sat at the piano and Angela sat on the couch beside Star. Shelly came in.
"Can I have the shampoo?" Asked Shelly.
"Shower time was an hour ago you should have done it then." Said Lita.
"I didn’t want to, can I have the shampoo Lita?"
"I’m tired of walking up the hall all day, get my shampoo, light my cigarette." Said Lita.
"That’s your job, that’s what you get paid for." Said Jaden turning off the cd player.
"No." Said Lita.
"You can’t even do your job right." Said Jaden.
"I take very good care of you." Said Lita.
"Like you did with Loretta?" Asked Jaden. Russel and Heather stood up ready to pounce on Lita.
"That wasn’t my fault." Said Lita.
Shelly had enough she pushed Lita over and grabbed the keys. "Hey!" Yelled Lita. Star grabbed a white chair after Shelly left and hit Lita on the head with it. Lita passed out. Russel and Angela followed Shelly out. The rest started a raid. They made a mess out of everything. Moving the piano in a bad way, breaking glass, taking down the pictures a lot of stuff.
Shelly was trying to figure out which key to use to unlock the cabinet with the shampoo. Angela was with her. Russel came in and pushed them out of the way. She then grabbed a chair and broke the glass. Shelly grabbed the shampoo. Angela stared off into space. Russel went to the file cabinet and started making a mess with the files then she went over to Shelly and Angela. Angela had the keys now. Russel tried to get them away from her.
"Give me the keys Angela."
"No." Said Angela.
"Come on Angela give me the keys." Said Russel. Russel finally got them and left with them. Shelly dropped the shampoo and followed Russel.
"I don’t want to go." Said Angela.
The girls were still making a mess out everything.
Shelly and Russel couldn’t open the door.
"It won’t work." Said Russel giving up.
"Damn." Said Shelly kicking the door.
Heather was hitting a table with a broken chair. The rest stopped doing what they were doing. They looked around at the mess. A couple of the girls were crying. Star looked at the passed out, bleeding Lita and knew they be in trouble.
"Next?" Asked Stephanie.
"Last girl, Shelly." Said Victoria.
"All the girls say the same thing." Said Torrie. Shelly came in and sat down.
"Shelly we are talking to all the girls to find out what happened." Said Stephanie.
"Well I wanted the shampoo and Lita refused to get it for me when I asked nicely guess things went kind of nuts after that." Said Shelly.
"She’s lying." Said Victoria.
"Well Shelly admitted to what she did before, when the cops get here they’ll talk to the girls." Said Stephanie.
Victoria brought Shelly outside where the other girls were waiting. Torrie came out.
"I want to talk to her." Said Torrie.
"Ok." Said Victoria going over to the girls.
"You lied?"
"Big deal." Said Shelly.
"Why?"
"Who cares?"
"What am I going to do now?"
"Who knows?" Asked Shelly walking away. "Russel give me a cigarette."
"How did it go?" Asked Russel handing one over.
"It went, Victoria light please." Victoria lit Russel and Shelly’s smokes.
"See ya later mom." Said Russel. The girls went back to cabin three with Victoria. Torrie knew she lost them all now.
